DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY

Introduction:


Department of Pharmacology has a experimental, chemical & clinical pharmacology laboratory. 2 preparation and 2 demonstration rooms which are well equipped. The equipments required for UG and PG courses are available. Department has 6 rooms for teaching faculty. The animal house has rooms for rabbits, rats, guinea pigs and mice and a frog tank. It also has office room and experimental surgery. Apart from MBBS and MD, BSc nursing and BSc OT technology students are trained. Department library has 200 books. MD Pharmacology was started in 2003. One seminar and 1 journal article is presented by PGs every week. Computer simulated dog experiment for PGs is available. Staff and PGs of the department present atleast 2 papers per year at national and state level conference of Indian pharmacological society. The department is recognized as Peripheral National Pharmacovigilance Center by Drug controller general of india from 2005. This programme is sponsored is by WHO & DCGI. Dr.T.N.Kumar & Dr.Sarala.N have undergone training in clinical pharmacology. Dr.Sarala.N and Dr. Nagesh raju G have undergone NTTC training at JIPMER, Pondicherry. Dr.T.N.Kumar is member of post graduate Board of Studies in Paraclinical subjects under RGUHS and SDUU. Dr.Sarala N is reviewer for Journal of Pharmaceutical Research. Dr.Girish MB has undergone training in Pharmacogenetics at JIPMER, Pondicherry.
